The federal government, through the Ministry of Culture and National Orientation, has expressed the need to endorse the World Sango Festival after what was communicated to it by the Government of Brazil as regards the desire expressed by a majority of Brazilians, particularly the state of Bahia. These Yoruba race attended the maiden edition of the festival in Oyo last year.
The endorsement letter read in parts, the Government, having satisfied itself of the great heritage in the festival, which is geared towards the preservation of our culture will have no doubts adopting and endorsing the World Sango Festival.
The Minister said he was moved by this interest as expressed by the Brazilians. “This means there is so much hope for our tourism industry, as other countries celebrate our culture.”
The minister expressed the government’s appreciation to Brasil for extending support to this festival to meet the yearnings and aspiration of the culture lovers in diaspora who would wish to come to their ancestral roots to still align yearly with their ancestral lineage.
