By Abdulwahab Abdulah Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, had said that recent events in the country were pointers to an imminent disintegration, urging the Federal Government to do something immediately to save the country from collapse. The group has also accused the leadership of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, of operating discriminatory monetary policy, with the on-going cashless economy in Lagos, without extending same to other parts of the country. President of OPC, Dr. Frederich Fasehun, who addressed newsmen in Lagos, raised alarm that the unresolved problems of Boko Haram; the threat of the group to President Goodluck Jonathan; corruption and the economicy policy of CBN under the leadership of Malam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi were issues that are capable of breaking up a country. |
He said, “We are all aware of these unholy facts in our national life. But we seem un-bothered about what happens to Nigeria, the Black man’s potential superpowers. Everybody seems to want to stop Nigeria from jumping out of this trouble boat. Everybody is thinking of his interest above national interest. Nobody seems genuinely committed to the unity of Nigeria. “The factors that unite civilised people in developed countries today have served to disunite us and destroy our country. The lack of respect for the country percolates down the entire system. There is no more respect for our institutions. We carry on like culture less barbarians,” he said. continued |
