Vice President Namadi Sambo said yesterday that before the end of 2014, the power sector is expected to generate 20,000MW of electricity. This is even as the National Council on Privatisation (NCP) and the Niger Delta Holding Power Company (NDPHC) have set up three committees to fast-track the privatisation of 10 power generation plants and 11 power distribution companies under the National Independent Power Plants (NIPP) project. Sambo said all was set for President Goodluck Jonathan to commence the commissioning of the power plants, even as the issue of gas availability has been resolved leaving only transmission to be tackled. | The vice president who presided over a joint meeting of the NDPHC NCP at the presidential villa, Abuja commended the management of the NDPHC for successfully completing the NIPP power plants across the country. According to him, the way in which the management of the NDPHC handled the successful completion of the ten power plants is commendable. continued |
