Nigeria receives Japan’s N2b grant for solar energy

Victoria   Ojeme The Nigerian government Wednesday  received a grant of N2billion from the government of Japan to support the nation’s drive to boost power generation capacity, through solar energy. The donation under  “The Project for Introduction of Clean Energy by Solar Electricity Generation System”, a statement by the Japanese Embassy, made available in Abuja said, “Japan donated 0.98 billion Japanese Yen (approximately 2 billion Naira or 7.84 million US Dollars) for the provision of solar electricity generation systems and to tackle the issue of climate change on top of 78.76 billion Japanese Yen (approximately 157.52 billion Naira or 63 billion US Dollars) which has already been extended in order to assist the power sector in Nigeria.
