The Head of the State in his will to fight against corruption, organized on July 16, 2007 a green march through the city of Cotonou to mark his determination and his engagement to fight against this plague which gangrenes national economy; a creditable initiative, greeted by everyone. But the politicians in dire need of sensation seized the opportunity to organize overall marches. This is the case from Parakou to Abomey-Calavi, and Cobly where they march allegedly to support the various actions of the Head of the State. What is curious in this epidemic of marches is that they all have to be initiated after Yayi Boni’s example but not before. So there is quite no week without an announcement of marching somewhere and sometime in the country. What beats all is that these politicians handle the people who have no idea of the real motives of their action. As most of the time they were only asked to come and join in, in order to enlarge the marching crowds in return for a moderate amount ranging between 500 to 1000 francs and additional sandwich and Bob’s your uncle! Far be it from us the idea to vilify the marchers, but it is very important that Yayi Boni bewares of what is going on. Under the Kérékou regime indeed, we have witnessed the same kind of move and political gestures to support the program and actions of the government. By then, thousands of Beninese used to take by storm the arteries of our cities and villages to stress slogans in favour of Mathieu Kérékou. But actually, the leaders of those self-appointed marchers were in dire need to be remarked by the President of the Republic. Certain organizers of these marches even succeeded sometimes to play well their game in being appointed at interesting posts. When the time came for assessment, it appeared that the management of the country was catastrophic and disastrous at every level. Unfortunately, it is the same practices that these politicians are repeating with President Yayi Boni. So let the President beware of those circumstantial marchers who do not share his objectives. The only thing those so-called marchers are aiming at is to let themselves noticed by President Yayi Boni. But as we have seen by the past all this ends up in lure and deception for the country. For these last ten years, we have been used to these kinds of initiatives the result of which was catastrophic and disastrous on all the plans. In this era of the Change, it is necessary that the Head of the State makes allowances and distrusts the pseudo marchers because the vision of an emerging Benin depends on it.
