According to your words, since some time now, the online version of Beninese news paper, Le Matinal, is enduring serious problems of accessibility. The troubles show themselves as well as in white fixed page than in unexpected reappearances in front-page of odd articles published many days ago.
This kind of fault, you added, concerns only this single newspaper among those which, in Benin, have an online version. As you are more connoisseurs of those sites than I that scarcely visit them, I have nothing else to add to your remark. You are surely in a better position than me to judge. But insofar as at present, among all the newspapers of Benin, Le Matinal is one of the rarest to care about its independence ; publishing serious and leading articles and chronicles which poses sound questions on government actions, intentions, projects and results, theses technical faults can reasonably be taken as a serious case of concern.
As a matter of fact, and you did mention it, had it been a mere technical fault, a serious Media Group would have cared about it both in its own interest and that of its readers. Of course, online press censoring techniques are miscellaneous and rather sophisticated. Some makes a subtle use of artefacts which can make the provider believe in apparent accessibility to his site while in fact access depends on various conditions – ranging from location to type of interface devices) and may not be possible to everyone at the same time.
This chaotic functioning is rather scheming; I agree with you, but, because of the easy negligence of our people, we can not say that there is something in the wind. In other words the faults you noticed, in spite of their duration and their recurrence may not be the result of the actions of the invisible hand of supporters of the Power.
However your worries are not the product of a wild imagination nor are they sheer lunacy; and this for two reasons.
1. / there is the propagandist choice of the new powers which, instead of laying the ideological and intellectual basis of the Change so far in use thinks it should impose its exclusive truth trough media hype, and if necessary monopolize space, or enfeoff means of existing media – both public and private.
2./ the fact that the perfidious subtleness of those in charge of applying the propagandist decrees is skilled in the art of allowing public facts circulation in public space only the very same droning to the glory of the power : columns, editorials and other complacent if not dithyrambic chronicles and articles but nothing that would give a bit of rough ride to our leaders in the interest of the whole nation.
So, Dear Pancrace, you are right in raising the matter but as would say Hubert Reeves, the famous astrophysicist, about the course of the universe, I would like to say: “patience dans l’azur…”
